Kelly Osbourne Reflects on Heartbreaking Weight Loss After Losing Father Ozzy Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne has revealed the emotional toll her father Ozzy Osbourne’s death took on her health, admitting she was shocked by how much weight she had lost during her grief.
Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, the 41-year-old television personality said she did not realize how dramatically her appearance had changed until she saw photos of herself while preparing for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
“I didn’t know I looked like that,” Kelly recalled. “I was in so much pain that I couldn’t see what everyone else was seeing. I just saw a broken person.”
The Grammy Awards, held in February, featured a tribute to legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at the age of 76. According to official records, his death was caused by an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease also contributing factors.
Kelly explained that her team worked carefully to help conceal the extent of her weight loss during the event. She wore a wig and selected clothing designed to avoid emphasizing her noticeably thinner frame.
Despite wanting to support her mother, Sharon Osbourne, and honor her father’s legacy, Kelly now believes attending the ceremony may have been too much for her emotionally.
“I wanted to be there, but I wasn’t well,” she admitted.
Reflecting on the grieving process, Kelly described how overwhelming loss affected even basic instincts such as hunger. She also shared that she made a conscious effort to shield her three-year-old son, Sidney, from the depth of her sorrow.
“Whenever he walked into the room, I would switch into ‘fun mom’ mode,” she said. “I never wanted him to be exposed to inappropriate grief.”
Looking ahead, Kelly is reportedly developing a three-part documentary series that will chronicle her journey through bereavement. She hopes sharing her experience will help others navigating similar losses.
“The person I was before my dad died is gone,” Kelly said. “That version of me doesn’t exist anymore.”
The upcoming project aims to provide an honest look at grief, healing, and the profound personal transformation that can follow the loss of a loved one.
